Listen for meaning
Begin with who, where and when. Listen again for a specific detail rather than trying to translate every word at once.
Change a sentence
Take a familiar statement and alter the person, time or opinion. This tests whether the pattern is understood.
Speak with a purpose
Practise asking for information or giving a reason. Add an unexpected follow-up so the exchange develops beyond memorised lines.
