Build connections across the course
Paper 1 draws on topics 1 to 4 and Paper 2 on topics 5 to 8. Paper 3 can assess the full course, including practical skills, experimental data and a 25-mark essay. Revision therefore needs more than separate topic summaries. A tutor might connect membrane transport to respiration, or gene expression to cell function, then ask you to explain the link in your own words.
Three useful lesson priorities
Application questions
Separate the new context from the biological idea being tested. Practise using the information in the question rather than reciting a memorised paragraph.
Data interpretation
Describe the pattern, support it with figures and decide what the evidence actually allows you to conclude.
Essay planning
Choose relevant examples, explain their biology accurately and link them directly to the title. Practise planning before attempting a complete essay.
