Hi, my name is Rob. I've been a full-time maths tutor for over 15 years and have taught over 15,000 lessons. I have a first class honours degree in maths from Cardiff University and a PGCE in secondary maths teacher training qualification from Cardiff Metropolitan University. I enjoy tutoring pupils of all levels from primary up to A level, including up to A level further maths. I don't have a specific way that I like to structure the lessons. I like to change from pupil to pupil as I think that's one of the big advantages of individual tuition. I particularly like to involve the pupil in deciding how we're going to move forward and what we're going to do and try and get them to have as much responsibility as possible for their own learning. Although obviously that changes depending on the age of the pupil. Sometimes it's appropriate to teach more like a school lesson and just work through the subject and sometimes we'll adapt it and work in a slightly different way. I'm very happy to set homework and to check it before the next lesson if that's what you'd like. I also particularly try and help pupils to develop techniques for learning so they're not just learning maths, but they're also learning how to learn so that in future they can apply those techniques themselves when they're working individually and hopefully be able to use some of the same processes themselves. If you'd like to book a lesson or you'd like to just ask any questions, then please feel free to get in touch. Thanks.
