How to prepare and join your lesson (for tutors)

As a tutor you can set up your classroom the moment a lesson is booked - click Prepare Classroom any time beforehand, then Join near the start. Here's how it works.

Preparing and joining your lessons

As a tutor you have two buttons on each upcoming lesson: Prepare Classroom (to set things up in advance) and Join (to enter when it's time). Your online classroom opens in a new tab - no downloads needed.

Prepare Classroom - available as soon as the lesson is booked

• You can click Prepare Classroom at any time after a lesson is booked, right up until the lesson ends.
• Use it to upload materials, set up your whiteboard, and get everything ready in advance.
• Preparing early means you can start teaching the moment your student arrives.

Join - when it's time

• The green Join button lets you enter the classroom near the start time.
• Please note: students can only join from 10 minutes before the lesson start, so they won't appear before then.
• You can join and remain in the room during the lesson and for a short grace period after it's due to end.

Where to find these

1. Log in and go to your Dashboard.
2. Open the Upcoming Lessons section.
3. Find the lesson and click Prepare Classroom beforehand, or Join when it's time.

Tips for a smooth lesson

• Prepare your classroom ahead of time, especially for a first lesson with a new student.
• Use a laptop or desktop with a working camera and microphone, and allow browser access when prompted.
• Join a few minutes early so you're ready and waiting when your student arrives.
