At National 5 and Higher, support may include reading for understanding, analysis and evaluation, Scottish texts, critical essays and the development of writing skills. Advanced Higher specialists should identify the literary study and independent research skills they can support. Use the current requirements for each course rather than treating the qualifications as interchangeable.
Teach students to select evidence, explain an interpretation and build a coherent argument. Offer feedback that develops their own voice and understanding. Guidance on portfolios or dissertations must preserve independent authorship and follow the relevant assessment rules.
Scottish teaching experience and GTCS registration are particularly welcome. Relevant graduates and current degree students with strong course knowledge may also apply. Name the levels and texts you know well. This role focuses on Scottish English qualifications; GCSE/iGCSE and A-Level Language or Literature are covered by the existing English vacancy.
